Wisconsin [US], December 18 (HBTV): A 15-year-old girl, identified as Natalie Rupnow, was confirmed as the shooter in the Wisconsin school shooting at Abundant Life Christian School, which left two dead and six injured, according to CNN. Rupnow reportedly died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Madison Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway expressed gratitude to first responders for their swift action during the shooting on Monday, calling it a "terrible and traumatic event." She acknowledged that the preparedness of school staff, police, and emergency personnel helped manage the crisis.
The mayor stated it was "far too early" to determine whether the shooter’s parents might face criminal charges, noting that the investigation is ongoing.
Madison Police Chief Shon Barnes announced that authorities are now scrutinizing the shooter's online activity. "We’re asking anyone who knew her or who may have insights into her feelings leading up to the incident to please contact the Madison Area Crime Stoppers," Barnes urged during a news conference.
He emphasized that determining the motive behind the shooting is the investigators' top priority, noting that the incident appeared to be driven by a "combination of factors."
Addressing concerns about whether specific individuals were targeted, Barnes clarified, "Everyone was targeted in this incident, and everyone was put in equal danger."
Authorities are also investigating whether the gun used in the deadly shooting was owned by the shooter's parents. The investigation continues.
