Mandalay [Myanmar], April 4 (HBTV): The Indian Army's Field Hospital is continuing its medical relief operations in Myanmar following the devastating 7.7 magnitude earthquake that struck the country on March 28, causing significant casualties and loss of life.
According to a release by the Indian Army, the medical team has, as of Thursday evening, successfully conducted 23 surgeries, over 1,300 laboratory investigations, and 103 X-ray procedures.
The release noted that the Indian medical contingent remains committed to providing essential medical services with unwavering determination and round-the-clock efforts, standing in solidarity with the people of Myanmar during this critical period.
One of Myanmar's prominent monks, U Wirathu of the Ma Soe Yein Tike Thit Monastery, visited the Indian Field Hospital in Mandalay, according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
As per a report by Al Jazeera citing state television, more than 3,000 people have been confirmed dead following the earthquake, with the military administration announcing a truce amid the natural disaster.
Myo Aung, Chief Minister of Myanmar's Mandalay division, also visited the Indian Army Field Hospital on Thursday. The hospital was set up as part of the humanitarian mission Operation Brahma. The Chief Minister extended his ‘heartfelt gratitude’ to the Indian Medical Contingent, recognising their vital role in providing uninterrupted medical care to those affected.
The Indian Army Field Hospital continues its operations with a steadfast commitment, reinforcing the humanitarian ties between India and Myanmar under Operation Brahma.
Launched in the immediate aftermath of the earthquake, Operation Brahma is India’s comprehensive response to the disaster. It includes Search and Rescue (SAR) missions, humanitarian aid, disaster relief, and medical assistance.
As the first responder in times of regional crises, India has mobilised its full capabilities under a whole-of-government approach to support Myanmar in the wake of widespread destruction.(ANI)
