Rabat [Nigeria], April 29 (HBTV): At least 26 people were killed and three others injured in northeastern Nigeria after two vehicles triggered an improvised explosive device (IED), TASS reported, citing Reuters and local residents.

The explosion occurred on Monday along a road connecting the towns of Rann and Gamboru Ngala in Borno state, an area that has long been affected by extremist violence.

According to residents, the vehicles detonated the hidden explosive while travelling between the two towns, resulting in a blast that caused heavy casualties. The injured were immediately transported to the nearest hospital for urgent treatment, though their conditions have not yet been disclosed.

The International Safety Organization, which offers security services for foreign non-governmental organisations operating in Nigeria’s northeast, confirmed the incident in an internal memo accessed by Reuters.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack. However, Borno state remains a known stronghold of militant groups such as Boko Haram, which have repeatedly carried out deadly attacks in the region, continuing to destabilise the area and threaten civilian populations.
