WSBAK urges people to vote ethically; candidates asked to show leadership in 'genuine concern'

The WSBAK has urged churches, communities, and individuals to stand firm on the Nagaland Baptist Church Council’s Clean Election Movement as the state goes to the Urban Local Body elections.

Chumoukedima, Nagaland, June 23 (HBTV): The Western Sümi Baptist Akukuhou Küqhakulu (WSBAK) has urged churches, communities, and individuals to stand firm on the Nagaland Baptist Church Council’s Clean Election Movement as the state goes to vote in the Urban Local Body elections.      

The WSBAK isused a statement, received here on Sunday, stating there are some areas that still lacking and are falling in the 'pit' of unethical political practices.  

The organization has urged voters to empower change from the grass roots by casting their votes wisely and responsibly.   

The WSBAK believes that the ULB election will make way for development in the state, but, it stated, this possibility mostly depends on the ethical conduct of voters.

The organization also urged all candidates to demonstrate God-given leadership qualities by committing themselves to serve the community with a genuine concern for their wards. 

Likewise, the organization has urged all the churches and communities to emphasize and promote “one man, one vote”. The WSBAK asked pastors to pray for the polling stations prior to polling. It also asked each individual to vote consciously and fearlessly; refrain from bribe, proxy voting, and any kind of undemocratic behavior. It requested civil societies, students’ unions and youth organizations to abide by the Election Code of Conduct and to desist from anti-social elements. 

The organization has also requested people to download the cVIGIL app on to their mobile devices and report if anyone in misbehaving, making threats, using firearms or resorting to any form of violence at polling stations.
