Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], November 12 (HBTV): In a new development in the alleged MUDA scam, social activist Snehamayi Krishna has accused Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of influencing the allotment of a plot. On Tuesday, the RTI activist claimed that Siddaramaiah’s wife did not pay the fee for the purchase deed in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) site allotment and that the MUDA Tehsildar paid the stamp duty on her behalf.
Krishna, one of the complainants in the alleged MUDA scam, released documents purporting to show that MUDA's special Tehsildar paid the stamp duty on the plot allotted to Siddaramaiah’s wife, Parvathi, under a 50:50 ratio arrangement. “Is there any need for more evidence that Siddaramaiah influenced the allotment of the plot? Will Siddaramaiah answer the people of the country about this?” Krishna wrote on social media.
Meanwhile, Congress spokesperson M. Lakshmana criticized Krishna for interfering with the ongoing investigation. The Congress leader stated that a complaint was likely to be filed against the RTI activist for allegedly defaming the Chief Minister by sharing documents on social media during an active investigation.
A week ago, Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy raised doubts about the Lokayukta Police’s investigation into the MUDA scam, questioning whether a superintendent-level officer could fairly investigate the Chief Minister. "What inquiry have they done? An SP-level officer inquiring about the CM? It’s a drama,” he said, suggesting the probe lacked credibility.
Previously, Siddaramaiah appeared before the Lokayukta Police in Mysuru, where he underscored the agency’s independence, likening it to the CBI. “The governor has recommended that the MUDA case be investigated by the Lokayukta,” Siddaramaiah noted following the questioning.
