Manipur: Three arrested militants killed in alleged encounter

Three members of a militant group in Manipur who were arrested with sophisticated arms at Ganganagar in Dholai constituency of Cachar district in Assam on Tuesday evening were killed in an encounter.

Imphal, Manipur, July 17 (HBTV): Three members of a militant group in Manipur who were arrested with sophisticated arms at Ganganagar in Dholai constituency of Cachar district in Assam on Tuesday evening were killed in an encounter in the wee hours of Wednesday.         

Police said the three were killed after they tried to flee following the arrest. It may be mentioned that apart from the arrest of these militants, a number of sophisticated weapons were seized from the auto rickshaw in which they had traveled.                 

Sources informed that the militants reserved an auto rickshaw from Krishnapur in the foothills of the Bhuban hills and were on their way towards Amraghat-Matinagar road at approximately 4:00 PM.     

The Kachudaram police team stopped the auto rickshaw and searched it. The police found a pistol, an AK series rifle, daggers, and other items. The auto driver was also arrested along with the militants.
