The Indian Army paid tributes to Captain N Kenguruse on the 25th anniversary of his martyrdom, with a ceremony at the Kenguruse War Memorial at Phezha in Kohima district of Nagaland.

Chumoukedima, Nagaland, June 29 (HBTV): The Indian Army paid tributes to Captain N Kenguruse on the 25th anniversary of his martyrdom, with a ceremony at the Kenguruse War Memorial at his native village Phezha in Kohima district of Nagaland. Governor of Nagaland La Ganesan was the chief guest for the event. 

During the Kargil War in 1999, Captain N Kenguruse of the Indian Army made the supreme sacrifice in line of his duty while leading an operation. For his valor, Kenguruse was awarded the Maha Vir Chakra, the second highest gallantry award, posthumously.    

The governor feted the parents of the war hero of Nagaland, a handout from the military said.

A large number of service personnel, ex-servicemen and villagers attended the event. Governor Ganesan and Lieutenant General Harjinder Singh Sahi, General Officer Commanding Spear Corps, paid homage at the memorial. The governor ignited the torch of “Amar Jyoti” at the war memorial, the updates said.
