The Chhattisgarh Forest Department issued an advisory on Friday after a tiger was spotted in a residential area, urging locals to avoid the forest and return home immediately.

Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi (Chhattisgarh) [India], December 7 (HBTV): The Chhattisgarh Forest Department issued an advisory on Friday after a tiger was spotted in a residential area, urging locals to avoid the forest and return home immediately.

‘This is to inform that a tiger was spotted in your village, currently in Parasi (village). We are instructing you not to visit the forest. Those who went farming or for labor work should return to their homes,’ a police official informed residents.

Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Forest Mohar Singh Markam said the forest department cleared a path within a four-kilometre radius for the tiger while advising villagers within two kilometres to avoid outdoor activities such as farming.

‘This tiger has come from Kanha Tiger Reserve. This is the MP-Chhattisgarh border... Marwahi range... Our tiger is in Parasi. Right now, the tiger is outside the forest area... We have cleared the way within a radius of three to four kilometres. The villagers within a radius of two kilometres have been told not to go for farming... We have also called tiger experts. There will be continuous monitoring now,’ Markam told ANI.
