In a delayed report from Noklak town in Nagaland, a laborer and painter from Tuensang identified as Hasnul Haque, was brutally murdered on May 29.

Noklak, Nagaland, July 26 (HBTV): In a delayed report from Noklak town in Nagaland, a laborer and painter from Tuensang identified as Hasnul Haque, was brutally murdered on May 29, 2024. Haque, along with his colleague identified as Majmol were allegedly taken by one Bumo Khiamniungan and five others on the night of May 28.

According to the account of Hasnul's wife Jaida Begum, a dispute arose over a misunderstanding with one Resul who was hired by Majmol to manage their accounts.

Resul, feeling humiliated after being reprimanded by Majmol, falsely accused Hasnul and Majmol of casting black magic on Bumo Khiamniungan.

Reacting to this unfounded claim, the accused Bumo Khiamniungan and his accomplices abducted the two men and took them 10 kilometers away from Noklak, where they were severely assaulted. Hasnul succumbed to his injuries while Majmol was seriously injured.

Allegedly, Bumo Khiamniungan's gang prevented people from taking the body to the hospital, and even used a pistol to threaten those who tried to intervene.

The local community's fear further complicated Jaida Begum’s quest for justice. She was allegedly dissuaded from filing a First Information Report with the police, even by members of her own community. According to reports, a brother of Majmol called Faisal also pleaded with her not to pursue legal action, fearing retaliation.

Now, nearly two months later, justice is still out of reach. One of the accused persons, Bumo Khiamniungan's son, has been released on bail.

Speaking to HornbillTV, Jaida Begum demanded that the bail be revoked emphasizing that he is not a minor and should be held accountable.

Begum now faces the daunting task of raising her three children alone. Her eldest daughter is ill, her son has a broken arm, and she struggles to run a small shop to make ends meet, reports said.
