Imphal (Manipur) [India], June 10 (HBTV): Military personnel and Manipur Police Commandos apprehended an armed cadre of the Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) in the Huikap area of Imphal East district on Sunday.  

Acting on specific intelligence, a combined team from the Indian army and Manipur police launched a search operation on June 9, 2024, an official release stated.  

The operation resulted in the capture of an armed member of the KYKL (Socialist Revolutionary Party, SOREPA) faction. The individual was reportedly found in possession of a 9mm pistol, three grenades, and ammunition. 

The apprehended individual and the recovered arms have been handed over to the Manipur Police for further investigation and action. 

The Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (Socialist Revolutionary Party) is a Meitei insurgent group that operates in the state of Manipur in India.

It is a secessionist organisation and is banned by the Government of India.
