Wild elephant relocated to Manas National Park in Assam after five-day rescue operation

In a massive five-day operation, the Assam Forest Department tranquillized and relocated a wild elephant that had entered a civilian area in Hajo area of Kamrup district, to Manas National Park.

Kamrup (Assam) [India], July 9 (HBTV): In a massive five-day operation, the Assam Forest Department tranquillized and relocated a wild elephant that had entered a civilian area in Hajo area of Kamrup district, to Manas National Park on Tuesday.  

A press statement issued by the North Kamrup Forest Division reported that 50 Forest officials, an SDRF boat, and two aid elephants were involved in the operation, with support from the Kamrup district administration, Assam Police, and the public of Hajo.

‘A team of doctors led by Pranab Das, FVO, Assam State Zoo sedated the animal and took full care in its transportation to Manas and its revival,’ stated an official statement.  

The elephant had been wreaking havoc in the Hajo area the past five days, reports said.
