Agartala, Tripura, January 23 (HBTV): A bizarre incident unfolded at Udaipur under Gomati District of Tripura where a woman allegedly eloped with her illicit lover with a huge amount of money that was earned from her and her husband’s organ 'donation.'
Both the husband and wife identified as Gopal Chandra Das and Shilpi Das ‘donated’ a kidney each in exchange for money at a Kolkata-based super-specialty hospital. They received INR 13 lakh cash for the donation. Months after that, Shilpi Das disappeared all of a sudden with the cash they had at home. Her husband lodged a complaint with the Radha Kishorepur Women’s Police Station on Tuesday night.
Speaking to the media persons, Das said, “We got married 14 years ago. I accepted her with her one-year-old son, who has turned 15 recently. My first wife also accepted our marriage and we started living happily together.”
However, things began to turn worse during the past couple of months. She started to keep herself busy on the mobile phone all day long. She even started to hide her telephonic conversation, Das said.
According to Das, he had donated one of his kidneys after being convinced by her second wife. “My wife wanted to stay in a pucca (proper) house. She asked me to donate one of my kidneys in exchange for money. She also underwent the same procedures. The money that we received in lieu of the organ was supposed to be invested for constructing a two-storied building.’
But, he said, three days ago she broke all her promises and disappeared mysteriously. The cash, which was kept secure in the house was also missing, Das, a pump operator by profession, said.
A police officer at RK Nagar Women’s Police station said that a missing report has been lodged based on which investigation will be carried out.
‘The husband claimed that he had donated his kidney and her wife was involved in an illicit affair. An investigation into the matter is underway, the police official added.
