Imphal, Manipur, December 19 (HBTV): Security forces in Manipur busted two camps of underground organizations during a cordon-and-search operation in Imphal East district, police said on Thursday.
At Makou Pourabi, a hideout of the banned Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) was busted on Wednesday during which an air-gun, a mobile handset, a bullet proof helmet, and uniforms were seized.
Another training camp of the proscribed PREPAK was also destroyed during which one INSAS LMG magazine, a bayonet, five wooden dummy guns, two walkie-talkie sets, fired shalls, and incriminating documents, among others, were seized.
In another incident, police arrested nine cadres of the banned militant outfit Kangleipak Communist Party (Peoples' War Group) during the past two days for involvement in extortion activities.
On Wednesday, police arrested two active members of the KCP (PWG) who were "involved in extortion activities from the general public, private firms, govt. offices," from Mantripukhri bazaar area in Imphal East district. The security forces recovered two extortion letters of the KCP (PWG), sixteen cash receipts of the outfit and other articles.
Six cadres of the KCP (PWG) were also arrested from Bijoypur Mamang Leikai and Makha Leikai in Kakching District on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, police also arrested one cadre of the KCP (PWG) from the Tangkhul Avenue area in Imphal West. The cadre has been involved in "extortion activities from the general public, shops, beauty parlors/ spas located in and around Tangkhul Avenue area," the updates said.
