Truck loaded with 54 refrigerators hijacked in Badarpur; four arrested

Sribhumi (Badarpur), March 26 (HBTV): A truck loaded with refrigerators was hijacked in Badarpur while traveling from Guwahati to Agartala. On Tuesday afternoon, a joint operation by Badarpur Police and Bhangarpar Police Outpost successfully apprehended four hijackers by that day evening. The culprits were traced and arrested with the help of the GPS installed in the vehicle.

Updates said that on March 19, the refrigerator-laden truck left Guwahati for Agartala in Tripura. The transporters lost contact with the driver from the morning of March 23, arousing suspicions. The lorry was taken to Masimpur, where approximately 54 Whirlpool refrigerators were stored in the house of a person named Abu Sajed.

Thanks to the GPS in the vehicle, Badarpur Police raided a place in Masimpur and recovered the refrigerators.

After arresting the brains behind the hijacking, the driver Jabir Hussain Choudhury alias Ajmal, the entire incident came to light.

It was revealed that Choudhury sold the refrigerators for 1.8 lakh rupees to one Jabed Iqbal Laskar, a resident of Sonapur Gaon Panchayat. After purchasing the refrigerators, Laskar stored them at one Abu Sajed’s house in Masimpur.

Abu Salim Barbhuiya alias Binan, a resident of Ranghar Part I under Sonapur GP, allegedly assisted in the operation.

On Tuesday afternoon the joint operation by Badarpur and Bhangarpar Police led to the arrest of the individuals, who were subsequently handed over to Badarpur Police Station.
