Agartala (Tripura) [India], November 2 (HBTV): Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Friday applauded the Tripura Police for their efforts in combating drug trafficking after they seized drugs worth INR 2 crore in Ambassa, Dhalai district.
Ambassa Police officials intercepted a vehicle and seized 80,000 YABA tablets valued at INR 2 crore. Acting on a tip-off about the vehicle’s movement, the Ambassa Police detained the vehicle, arrested the driver, and successfully recovered the YABA tablets.
Chief Minister Saha praised the police for their diligence and confirmed that a case has been registered under the NDPS Act.
‘Great job by Ambassa Police for seizing 80,000 YABA tablets worth INR 2 crore. Acting on secret info, Ambassa PS detained a vehicle and arrested a driver. A case under NDPS Act has been registered. Congratulations to Ambassa Police for their constant efforts against the drug menace,’ Saha stated in a post on X.
Earlier on October 30, the Assam Rifles conducted a major operation on the eve of Diwali, seizing 90,000 YABA tablets and arresting two individuals in Narangbari, West Tripura district. Acting on specific intelligence, the Assam Rifles executed a well-planned operation resulting in the recovery of YABA tablets estimated to be worth Rs 18 crore in the international market. The seized drugs and apprehended suspects were handed over to the DRI, Agartala, for further investigation.
