Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has announced that government and government-aided schools in the state are utilizing indigenously developed Teaching-Learning Materials to enhance cognitive development.

Agartala, Tripura, February 6 (HBTV): Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has announced that government and government-aided schools in the state are utilizing indigenously developed Teaching-Learning Materials (TLM) to enhance cognitive development in elementary education.

As part of the NIPUN Tripura initiative, children aged three to seven are to receive specialized training to improve reading, writing, and arithmetic skills.

Speaking at the State-Level Teaching-Learning Material Exhibition-and-Competition, Dr. Saha highlighted the progress of the NIPUN Mission, launched in 2022, and emphasized its positive impact. He dismissed criticisms of the education system, asserting that government schools are improving significantly.

As part of the initiative, NIPUN Corners have been set up in 4,227 schools, benefiting more than 90,000 students. Additionally, more than 10,000 teachers have been trained to create TLMs using locally available resources. These materials simplify learning basic concepts like alphabets, words, and arithmetic operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

Dr. Saha also acknowledged the success of the state-level TLM competition, where 7,000 teachers from various districts participated, and five were awarded for their outstanding models. He stressed the need to make these materials more durable for long-term use.

To strengthen the initiative, 200 Block Resource Persons have been deployed as master trainers to train elementary school teachers in their respective areas. The Tripura government remains committed to improving foundational learning through innovative and localized teaching strategies.
