Tripura: BSF destroys illegal cannabis cultivation spread over 10 hectares of land in a joint operation

The Border Security Force, Tripura Police, and forest officials, destroyed approximately 65,000 mature cannabis plants cultivated across 10 hectares of land.

Sepahijela (Tripura) [India], November 13 (HBTV): The Border Security Force (BSF), in a joint operation with Tripura Police and forest officials, destroyed approximately 65,000 mature cannabis plants cultivated across 10 hectares of land on Wednesday.

After receiving specific information about the illegal cultivation of cannabis plants in the forest area of Gilamura village under PS Sonamura in the Sepahijela district of Tripura, the BSF destroyed the cultivation by uprooting and burning the plants, according to a release.

The BSF, in coordination with other agencies, is making extensive efforts to maintain a drug-free society.

Earlier, on November 3, the BSF apprehended five Bangladeshi nationals from two different locations in Tripura, as stated in a press release.

Upon receiving specific information at around 2:30 pm on Saturday, BSF troops from BOP (Border Out Post) Kamla Sagar in the Sepahijela district apprehended four Bangladeshi nationals attempting to enter Indian territory by crossing the IBB Fence.

According to the press release, three of the apprehended Bangladeshi nationals are residents of Gopalganj district in Bangladesh, while another individual, who was facilitating the illegal crossing, is a resident of Kasba, Bangladesh.

In another operation, a Bangladeshi national was apprehended by BSF troops from BOP Samrupara in the Unakoti district. He is a resident of the Netrakona district in Bangladesh.
