Imphal, Manipur, May 25 (HBTV): Fifteen people have been arrested for robbing properties of the National Institute of Technology, and from abandoned Kuki properties situated at Langol in Manipur.
The report came in from Lamphel police station in Imphal West District of Manipur. The National Institute of Technology authorities filed a complaint with the Lamphel Police Station informing that a portion of the institution’s wall was found collapsing and disassembled bricks had been stolen.
Based on the complaint, Lamphel Police arrested fifteen people from near the Home Guard office. Subsequently the police team seized two auto rickshaws, a Tata 407, a Tata DI, and a Tata Ace Zip used in transporting the disassembled bricks and steel.
There are many abandoned houses belonging to members of the Kuki community in the area. These abandoned houses, many of them damaged or destroyed at the peak of the ethnic violence in the state, are often guarded by security forces.
