Tensions at Assam school after allegation that children fed beef by Manipuri students

Guwahati, Assam, September 25 (HBTV): Tensions erupted at the Carmel School in Rani of Assam's Kamrup district near Guwahati after allegations surfaced that local students in class-VII were forcibly fed beef by Manipuri students during lunchtime.

The incident reportedly occurred the previous Thursday, September 19, but it came to light only when parents were informed. They staged a protest in front of the school on Tuesday, expressing outrage over the violation of religious sentiments.

According to reports, the school authorities attempted to downplay the situation, with claims that the principal issued threats to the affected local students, discouraging them from speaking out.

In response, parents lodged a First Information Report with the Rani police station, citing the school’s negligence and failure to address the allegations properly.

Meanwhile, the Palashbari revenue circle officer, police, and paramilitary troops, have been deployed to the area to handle the situation and conduct investigation into the matter.
