Ri Bhoi District Gears Up for MDC Election in KHADC

The Ri Bhoi district administration of Meghalaya is fully prepared for the upcoming polling day of the Member of District Council election in the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council.

Nongpoh [Meghalaya] February 20 (HBTV): The Ri Bhoi district administration of Meghalaya is fully prepared for the upcoming polling day of the Member of District Council (MDC) election in the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC), with tight security arrangements in place. Authorities are ensuring a smooth and peaceful electoral process across the district.

Additional Deputy Commissioner, Balakyntiew Ranee informed that a total of 331 polling stations have been set up across five constituencies in Ri Bhoi. Among these, 16 areas have been identified as vulnerable, while 14 areas have been classified as critical. To maintain law and order, the district police have deployed stringent security measures, with personnel stationed strategically in sensitive locations.

ADC also informed that Polling Personnel (P-2) were deployed to their respective polling stations yesterday, while today, Polling Personnel (P-1) were also dispatched to various polling stations. This ensures that they are well-prepared to fulfill their duties, contributing to a smooth and peaceful electoral process for the MDC elections.

The administration has assured voters that all necessary arrangements have been made to conduct a free, fair, and peaceful election. Voters are encouraged to exercise their democratic rights responsibly while adhering to electoral guidelines.

She further added that Authorities remain vigilant, closely monitoring the situation to prevent any untoward incidents. Security forces will be on high alert throughout the polling process to ensure a safe and orderly election on February 21.
