Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday asserted in the state assembly that he won't let "Miya Muslim" take over the state.

Guwahati (Assam) [India], August 28 (HBTV): Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday asserted in the state assembly that he won't let "Miya Muslim" take over the state.

Speaking in the state assembly on the adjournment motions brought by the opposition Congress and AIUDF to discuss the law and order situation in the state in the backdrop of a 14-year-old minor girl gang rape incident that took place at Dhing area in Nagaon district and a recent incident in Upper Assam, the Assam Chief Minister said that - "I won't let Assam become a land of Miyas."

When the opposition MLAs charged the Assam Chief Minister of partisan, he said that - "Are you want to capture the entire state? Why the people from Lower Assam will go to Upper Assam? I won't let Assam become a land of Miyas."

On the other hand, AIUDF MLA Mujibur Rahman said that his party will continue their fight for the rights of the Miya Muslim people.

"We will continue our fights for the Miya people's rights. In a democratic country why people can't go to one state from another state or from one district to another district? The Assam Chief Minister who is also holding the Home Department portfolio, has failed to address this matter. We demand that he should resign from the post. Both Congress and BJP are doing communal politics," Mujibur Rahman said.
