The security advisor to the Manipur Government, Kuldiep Singh, stated that the administration, Army, Assam Rifles, and Border Security Force are actively managing the law and order situation.

Imphal (Manipur) [India], November 22 (HBTV): The Security Advisor to the Manipur Government, Kuldiep Singh, stated that the administration, Army, Assam Rifles, and Border Security Force (BSF) are actively managing the law and order situation in the state following recent incidents of violence. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has been tasked with probing cases of civilian killings in the region.

Speaking at a press conference, Singh confirmed, ‘The three cases of recent killings have been handed over to the NIA, which is now investigating the incidents. Updates will follow as the investigations progress.’ He added that the last rites of nine individuals who lost their lives in the violence were conducted peacefully, supported by tight security measures.

Singh emphasised that all security forces are collaborating to address various challenges, noting, ‘The burial of nine bodies from Jiribam was carried out peacefully with the assistance of all forces. They are also addressing other concerns effectively.’

Meanwhile, Chief Minister N Biren Singh expressed support for protests against the killings of innocent civilians but criticised the actions of certain groups who have allegedly engaged in looting and arson under the guise of democratic agitation.

‘I have condemned the violence. While we support genuine agitation against the killing of innocent people, some gangs have looted and burned ministers' houses under the pretext of a democratic movement. We have identified individuals involved through CCTV footage and have initiated legal action. Such acts bring shame to Manipur,’ said the Chief Minister.

The Manipur government continues to grapple with the twin challenges of addressing public grievances and maintaining order amid ongoing tensions.
