Silchar, Assam, December 21 (HBTV): Assam’s Cachar police have arrested Rois Uddin Barbhuiya, 24 years, on suspicion of murdering his wife Helima Begum Barbhuiya, 21 years; and his 13-month-old daughter Jannat, by plunging his car into Barak River. 

Barbhuiya is a resident of Buribail in Borkhola constituency.

Cachar police arrested Rois Uddin Barbhuiya the previous night from his residence for interrogation.   

Earlier, it was reported that the car, a Maruti Alto, fell into the river near Raipur, 13 kilometres from Silchar city on December 17 when the family was returning from Silchar.

 The dead bodies of his wife and child were recovered on Wednesday morning.   

According to locals, Rois Uddin Barbhuiya had broken open the car window to escape car and had cried out for help.
