Chumoukedima, Nagaland, August 21 (HBTV): The NSCN/GPRN (Khango) has withdrawn its threat of “capital punishment” to a contractor, the proprietor of M/S KKB Rulho, without any condition. The move of the armed Naga group comes following the faction’s meeting with the Angami Youth Organization on August 20 at Kohima.   

Earlier, there was widespread public outcry when news broke that the armed Naga group had reportedly issued a notice declaring a so-called “capital punishment” against the contractor allegedly for not paying “tax”. The group had then issued another diktat halting all contract works of Angami contractors. This led to the Angami Youth Organization and other Naga youth organizations protesting and refusing to concede.   

The meeting in Kohima was reportedly facilitated by the ceasefire monitoring board. In a Joint statement, the group has agreed to retract its diktat given to the Angami contractors to cease activities and to demobilize their manpower and machineries deployed across the state with immediate effect.   

The NSCN-Khango also agreed to reveal the identity of the person, one identified simply as a 'Max Naga,' to the public and initiate 'appropriate disciplinary action against him on or before 15 days.' 

In the meantime, the Angami Youth Organization shall be withdrawing its declaration of ‘non-cooperation’ against the faction, and withdraw its recall of all Angami workers from the NSCN/GPRN-Khango faction.   

According to the statement, the group has expressed regret over the occurrence of the 'unfortunate issue.'   

In the meeting, the AYO also reiterated its stand of the Angami Public Organization’s resolution of 1993 on 'One Government, One Tax.'
