Agartala, Tripura, February 22 (HBTV): Tripura Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy on Friday hinted that non-vegetarian food stalls near the Tripura Sundari temple might have to be evicted in order to ‘protect the sanctity of the temple.’

Speaking to media persons after an inspection of newly built infrastructure for the temple, the minister said, ‘Encroachment around the temple premises couldn't be allowed. Legal action is being undertaken against those who are being found committing mischief.’

‘We are of the view that to maintain the sanctity of the temple non-vegetarian food stalls shouldn't be allowed here. Temples all over the country follow the same practice.’

Roy reiterated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to inaugurate the renovated Tripurasundari Temple premises.

‘All the departments entrusted with the task to carry out the construction have assured that the remaining work will be completed by March 20. The renovation and redevelopment works had been carried out under the PRASAD scheme,’ he added.
