Imphal, Manipur, November 23 (HBTV): Seventy more companies of security forces are being deployed to ethnic violence-hit Manipur taking the number of security companies to 288.
The Manipur government’s security advisor Kuldiep Singh said on Friday that a high-level security review meeting was conducted in the Manipur secretariat during which the security situation of all the districts was reviewed.
Kuldiep Singh said the issues of every district were discussed threadbare along with their administrative and police officers.
Singh said the state has already 198 companies of central security forces but seventy more companies are coming in. He said a portion of the forces have already reached Imphal to protect lives and properties of citizens besides guarding vulnerable areas. All the forces will be deployed within a few days, updates said. With the additional forces the total numbers of central security companies will be 288, the security advisor stated.
Singh informed that in Jiribam district, the burial of nine dead bodies was peacefully conducted with the help of all the forces there.
It is learned that the chief minister of Manipur was not a part of the security review meeting. However, the outcome of the meeting will be briefed to him.
