MLAs says new Chief Minister expected within two days’ time

Manipur is expected to get a new chief minister in a few days, according to updates. A delegation of legislators from Manipur met with the BJP's Northeast coordinator, Sambit Patra.

Imphal, Manipur, February 11 (HBTV): Manipur is expected to get a new chief minister in a few days, according to updates. A delegation of legislators from Manipur met with the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Northeast coordinator, Sambit Patra, to discuss the ongoing situation in the state. The chief minister of the state N Biren Singh resigned recently.   

The legislators emphasized the need to restore peace and normalcy, stating that their primary concern is about stabilizing the situation. 

The MLAs said, ‘We just came here to talk about peace. Our focus is on bringing normalcy, and we have urged him to take necessary steps in this regard. However, the final decisions will be taken by the competent authorities.’  

Sambit Patra, who has been in Manipur for the past three days, has been engaged with various stakeholders to assess the ground situation. His visit comes amid growing concerns over the state's law and order situation, with efforts underway to bring stability. 

Further developments are expected as discussions continue at different levels within the government and the party. 

S Keba and K Ibomcha said the decision regarding who would be the new chief minister of Manipur will be within a two days’ time and everything will be decided by the party’s central command.

Manipur BJP MLAs Sapam Keba and K Ibomcha who met with Sambit Patra at Hotel Imphal on Tuesday said they requested the centre through him to find ways to restore peace in the state.

Following meeting with Patra at Hotel Imphal, Sapam Keba responded to media queries. The leader said ‘everything will be decided by the high command. We requested Patra to try at maximum level to restore normalcy in the state. We urged him for the centre to find a way to restore peace in the state. Within a couple of days, centre will decide what the things to be done.’ 

Also, BJP MLA K Ibomcha told reporters "everything is in the hand of centre. We cannot make any comment. We are here to make a courtesy call on him (Patra). The only thing we requested him is to bring peace in the state."

Patra also met with forest minister Th Bishwajit on Tuesday separately in Imphal.
