Manipur police nab nine militants from Imphal valley districts

The Manipur Police on Monday said it has arrested nine militants belonging to different extremist outfits, all from the valley districts.

Imphal, Manipur, February 4 (HBTV): The Manipur Police on Monday said it has arrested nine militants belonging to different extremist outfits, all from the valley districts.  

The Manipur Police Control Room issued a statement saying that five active cadres of the proscribed outfit Kangleipak Communist Party (City Meitei) were arrested from Mantripukhri Thakurbari under Heingang-PS in Imphal East District.  

The arrested individuals from Mantripukhri area are identified as one Laishram Bulu Singh (26); a RK Nelson (19); one Lairelrakpam Thoiba Singh (27); a Kangujam Jebash Singh (28); and one Boyamayum Zabirkhan (19). 

A 9mm pistol along with magazine loaded with eleven live rounds, two 36 HE hand grenades, three mobile phones, and cash amounting to INR 5,700 and a four-wheeler were seized from their possession, the statement said.

The police said that the police also arrested, in another arrest, an active cadre of the banned outfit Kangleipak Communist Party (MC) Progressive from Singjamei Thokchom Leikai in Imphal West District on Monday. He has been identified as one Khangembam Bipin Singh (50), allegedly involved in extortion activities.

In another incident, an active cadre of the banned United People's Party of Kangleipak was arrested from Irengband Hawairou area in Kakching district on Monday. He has been identified as one Pheiroijam Thoiba Singh (23) and was said to be involved in extortion activities from the public of Kakching, Thoubal, and Imphal West districts.

In still another incident, the statement said, security forces arrested an active cadre of the banned Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup from Wabagai bazar area in Kakching district. He was also said to be involved in extortion activities from the public of Kakching, Thoubal, and Imphal West districts. He has been identified one Mayengbam Joychandra Singh (24).

Further, Manipur Police arrested an active cadre of the People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (Pro) from Yairipok Bazar in Thoubal District on Monday. The individual has been identified as one Sinam Yaima Meitei alias Chingakpa (45).
