Manipur police have arrested three militants allegedly engaged in extortion activities during operations in Imphal West district.

Imphal, Manipur, February 12 (HBTV): Manipur police have arrested three militants allegedly engaged in extortion activities during operations in Imphal West district.

Police arrested two cadres of the proscribed Peoples' Revolutionary Front of Kangleipak (PREPAK-PRO) from Namdulong Khuman Lampak Main Stadium Road in Imphal West district on Tuesday.

The individuals have been identified as one Ashem Dinesh Meetei (41) and a Huidrom Tomba Singh (36). They were reportedly involved in extortion in the Namdulong areas. A leaflet of the PREPAK (PRO) and other articles were seized from their possession.

Police also arrested a cadre of the banned Kangleipak Communist Party (People’s War Group) from Langol Game village zone-2 areas in Imphal West district on Tuesday.

Identified as Thongram Bidyashagar Singh (22), three BAOFENG handheld sets along with four chargers, various military fatigues, bags and other articles were seized from the person, updates said.

The team also seized two plastic tear smoke boxes containing 58 shells from Langol Game village zone-1 areas, reports said.
