Imphal, Manipur, March 12 (HBTV): Three individuals in Manipur have been arrested for impersonating Union Home Minister Amit Shah's son Jay Shah and calling Manipur legislators for money. They allegedly promise them the post of chief minister.
The three accused individuals were brought to Imphal, a police statement on Wednesday informed. They were arrested earlier in Uttarakhand and were brought to Imphal by Manipur Police following an investigation in connection with two FIRs registered in Imphal Police Station.
The arrested accused persons had made phone calls to some MLAs of Manipur in February, following the resignation of the then chief minister N Biren Singh, police said. The authorities said the individuals impersonated Jay Shah, and had asked the MLAs for huge fund promising that they would be considered for the post of chief minister.
The individuals have been identified as one Uvaish Ahmed of Nidhauri Kala, Etah District, Uttar Pradesh; a Gaurav Nath of Ghazipur in East Delhi; and a Priyansu Pant of Ghazipur in East Delhi, all 19 years old.
