Manipur police have arrested four persons, including militants, and seized a number of arms and ammunitions during various operations.

Imphal, Manipur, June 20 (HBTV): Manipur police have arrested four persons, including militants, and seized a number of arms and ammunitions during various operations. 

The Police Control Room of the Manipur Police on Wednesday informed that search operations were conducted by security forces on the fringe and vulnerable areas of the hill and valley districts.

During the search operations, two SBBL guns, a carbine with a magazine, hand grenades, seven detonators, six tube launchers, 10 live ammunition, two 80 smoke hand grenades and a wireless Motorala set with a charger were seized from the general area of Yangoi in Imphal West, a release stated. 

On Wednesday, Manipur police arrested an active member of the Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP-Noyon) from Imphal East. He has been identified as 53-year-old Kharibam Surchandra Singh alias Telheiba. He was involved in extortion activities from various government offices and schools, the authorities stated.    

The police seized a sum of INR 1,15, 000, a two-wheeler scooter, two mobile phones, a sling bag, and a wallet, from the militant’s possession. 

In another incident on Tuesday, security forces arrested three active members of proscribed outfit KCP (Noyon) involved in extortion activities from the public in Kakching district. They have been identified as one Laikhuram Sanatomba Singh alias Mani, 24; one Heikrujam Dinesh Singh, 21; and one Tongbram Nganthoiba Singh, 21.   

The authorities seized from their possession three mobile phones, a four-wheel vehicle, and two extortion letters, the updates added.
