The Manipur government has set up a 24x7 control room at the 1st Battalion Manipur Rifles Banquet Hall as the state battles flooding due to incessant rains caused by Cyclone Remal.

Imphal, Manipur, June 1 (HBTV): The Manipur government has set up a 24x7 control room at the 1st Battalion Manipur Rifles Banquet Hall as the state battles flooding due to incessant rains caused by Cyclone Remal.

The facility is to improve coordination in rescue, relief, and rehabilitation efforts and swiftly address the needs of those affected, said an order issued by Chief Secretary Vineet Joshi on Thursday.

The statement said that the control room will be led by principal secretary of the government of Manipur Arun Kumar Sinha; and other officials including Inspector General of Police of Manipur K Kabib; Education Director L Nandakumar; representatives of Relief and Disaster Management Department; deputy commissioners; security forces, Public Health Engineering Department; and Water Resources; Health, Public Works Department, and the Power department, among others.
