Manipur: Four KYKL cadres arrested for assault of Naga railway driver

Manipur police have arrested four members of the proscribed outfit Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL-Sorepa) from Imphal East for the physical assault of a 23-year-old railway driver, police said.

Imphal, Manipur, November 8 (HBTV): Manipur police have arrested four members of the proscribed outfit Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL-Sorepa) from Imphal East district for the physical assault of a 23-year-old railway driver, a police statement on Thursday informed.   

In connection with a case related to abduction and assault of one Joshua Kamei from Kambiron (Puiluan) village, the police said, a hideout of the suspects at Urup Mayai Leikai was raided. Four of the KYKYL members were arrested along with arms.  

The arrested persons have been identified as one Hijam Nikhil Singh (27), a Hijam Thanglen Meitei (30), one Thongam Ningthem Singh (32) and a Gobin Elangbam (29).   

Police seized an SLR, a .303 rifle, two four wheelers and other incriminating items from their possession, updates said. Two drug users who were in their custody were also rescued, the updates said. 

Meanwhile, in connection with the assault of two persons from Senapati on October 31 at Lamsang, another person was arrested. He has been identified as one Lourembam Surjit Meitei of Taothong Ayungba. He was arrested on November 7.
