Guwahati (Assam) [India], February 7 (HBTV): A delegation of Japanese industrial leaders and intellectuals visited Assam on Tuesday, making stops at IIT Guwahati and the Tata semiconductor assembly facility, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Thursday.
The visit comes ahead of the Advantage Assam 2.0 conclave, scheduled for February 25 and 26 in Guwahati.
‘Today, a delegation of Japanese industrial houses and intellectuals visited Guwahati. In the morning, they toured IIT Guwahati and the Tata semiconductor assembly facility. In the evening, we addressed the delegation, which included the Japanese ambassador. These are significant events leading up to the Advantage Assam 2.0 conclave. We hope to build on these interactions,’ said Sarma while addressing the media.
The Chief Minister also confirmed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive in Guwahati on February 24, where he will witness the Jhumur performance and attend the Advantage Assam 2.0 Summit on February 25.
‘The Prime Minister will attend the Jhumur performance on February 24. On February 25, he will be present at the Advantage Assam conclave from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm,’ Sarma said.
He further stated that, apart from the Prime Minister, several Union Ministers will also participate in the conclave.
‘During my recent visit to Delhi, I met Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and discussed the Kaziranga Elevated Corridor, the Majuli-Jorhat bridge, the Jorhat-Dibrugarh road project, the Numaligarh-Gohpur tunnel, the ring road, and other infrastructure projects,’ Sarma added.
Meanwhile, Assam Minister Pijush Hazarika on Wednesday attended a preparatory review meeting for ‘Jhumur Binondini,’ the grand Jhumur extravaganza that will take place in the presence of Prime Minister Modi on February 24.
‘We discussed key aspects of preparations to ensure a successful celebration of Assam’s vibrant culture,’ Hazarika said.
