Imphal, Manipur, June 11 (HBTV):  The women’s wing of the Meitei organization Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) and female vendors of the Ima Keithel have asked ministers and members of legislative assemblies of the state to go to Jiribam by tomorrow and resolve issues.

Ethnic tensions have erupted in Manipur after violence broke out in Jiribam district.

The women asked the ministers and MLAs to resolve the issues quickly, said assistance coordinator of the COCOMI women’s wing, Wahengbam Luwang Leima.

Militants even attacked the chief minister’s advance convoy team, but what is the government doing, she asked.

Further, the women accused the Assam Rifles of removing residents of Jiribam and allowing militants to burn their houses.

Thingujam Rani, secretary of Khwairamband Keithel Sinba said the ethnic conflict in Manipur has completed a year and that the present ‘Kuki narco terrorists’ are attacking Jiribam. She even accused the central government of employing a divide-and-rule policy and trying to ‘kill all the people of the Meitei community.’

‘If the government is unable to solve the conflict and unable to bring back normalcy and peace, then it should resign,’ Rani said.
