Four teenage students swept away by Kundil River in Assam; two bodies found

In a tragic incident, four teenaged students were swept away in Kundil River in Sadiya in eastern Assam's Tinsukia district on Wednesday late afternoon.

Tinsukia, Assam, July 25 (HBTV): In a tragic incident, four teenaged students were swept away in Kundil River in Sadiya in eastern Assam's Tinsukia district on Wednesday late afternoon.

According to sources the incident took place at Paglam village after the students, all 15 years of age,went to bathe in the river after their classes.

The dead bodies of two students identified as one Amrit Chetry and Bhaskar Bhattarai have been fished out by the villagers. The bodies of the two other students identified as one Vivek Chetry and Ram Chetry are still missing.

The State Disaster Response Force is searching for the missing students.

‘Six of our friends decided to eat something. We arranged for light refreshments and went Kundil River. Our friend told us that he will go for a bath at Kundil River. Two of them didn't go for the bath. Four of them went for a bath and didn't return,’ said a classmate.

‘We have informed our parents and they informed the people, after which a search operation was launched. The villagers fished out two bodies from the river,’ he said.
