Four cadres of two Manipur militant groups arrested

The Manipur police have arrested four cadres of two different militant outfits allegedly involved in extortion activities from different areas of the state.

Imphal, Manipur, July 20 (HBTV): The Manipur police have arrested four cadres of two different militant outfits allegedly involved in extortion activities from different areas of the state.    

On Monday, a team of Imphal West Police arrested two cadres of the Revolutionary People’s Front/People’s Liberation Army from Imphal West District. The arrested persons were identified as one Wahengbam Tombi Singh alias Ibetombi alias Chaothoi (47) and a Thoudam Hemchandra Singh alias Ingo (42). They were allegedly extorting from educational institutions and private businesses. The police seized four mobile phones, a wallet, INR 13,520 in cash, and one four-wheeled vehicle from their possession.      

In another incident, two active cadres of the outfit Kangleipak Communist Party (People's War Group) were also arrested from Imphal West District. The arrested persons were identified as one Huiningshungbam Kenjen Singh (36) and an Irom Mikoi Singh (47). They were also allegedly involved in extortion activities from various educational institutes around the Imphal area. The police seized three mobile handsets, a wallet, an Aadhaar card, INR 30, 690 in cash, and one two-wheeler from their possession. 

The arrested persons and the recovered items have been handed over to the police station in concern for further action, a police report said.
