Imphal, Manipur, July 16 (HBTV): The families of Linthoingambi Hijam and Phijam Hemanjit Singh, who were allegedly abducted and murdered in 2023, met with the governor of Manipur Anusuiya Uikey in Raj Bhawan.

The families submitted a memorandum calling for recovery of the two students' mortal remains. They have sought an update on the investigation.

The Manipur governor said in a post on X that she has assured them that ‘steps for justice’ are underway and will instruct the state’s Director General of Police to trace the remains and to consult with the Central Bureau of Investigation.

Former Member of Legislative Assembly Akoijam Mirabai Devi, who accompanied the families, expressed her disappointment with the government's handling of the investigation. She noted that despite the CBI arrests and charge sheets, the victims' bodies have not been recovered nearly a year after the incident.
