Biren Singh says his government stands against ‘immigrants engaged in illegal activities’

Imphal, Manipur, January 31 (HBTV): Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Thursday reiterated that the state government's opposition is to new immigrants in the state who are allegedly engaged in illegal drugs-related activities and not against anyone who have been settled in the state from before.

Speaking at an interaction at Khangabok in Thoubal district, Singh said ‘there are many who still don’t understand the current issues in the state. Our duty is to understand and realise who the real opponents are and who has launched attacks to us.’

‘We have to defend ourselves from them. However, too much politics have confused the people and created internal conflicts as well. Too much politics at the time of conflict will lead to losses for the land and the people. We have to be united,’ he said.

‘Even politicians are hand in gloves with those who wants to break Manipur. Those who want to break Manipur have used agents to provoke us. There are such agents in Imphal valley who are on the same side with those who wants to break Manipur. We have to be careful from them. But one thing is clear, the land will be saved and Manipur will not break,’ Singh said.

‘We are all one. Thadou, Mate, Gangte, Vaiphei, Paite along with Tangkhul, Mao and Maram are all brothers. All those who have been settlers from the before are all staying together. Our opposition was only to the new immigrants who are engaged in drugs related activities,’ Singh said.

Singh also announced the approval for the establishment of an open gym, and development of Ikop lake among others.
