Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Wednesday launched the CM Impact Meghalaya Class Readiness Program e-books to build bridges between grades for greater success.

Shillong (Meghalaya) [India], February 6 (HBTV): Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Wednesday launched the CM Impact Meghalaya Class Readiness Program e-books to build bridges between grades for greater success. The event was also attended by Chief Secretary DP Wahlang, Commissioner & Secretary of Education Vijay Mantri, and Chairman of MIDC James K. Sangma.

During the launch, CM Sangma emphasized that the government has been working diligently to transform the education sector. "There are lots of challenges in the education sector relating to teachers, infrastructure, different categories of schools, etc. While we have been dealing with these challenges, we have also been focusing on improving the pass percentage in secondary school examinations. That has been the focal point for us to move forward," he said.

He further explained that the Meghalaya Class Readiness Program is one of the many strategies being adopted to improve learning quality at the primary, upper primary, and secondary levels. He added that there needs to be a systematic change in both teaching and learning processes in classrooms.

"I hope with steps like these, we will have some impact at different levels and bridge the gaps, helping us achieve the goals we've set in the education sector," CM Sangma said.

The Meghalaya Class Readiness Program is a transformative initiative aimed at empowering students and strengthening the educational system. It focuses on bridging learning gaps and building strong foundations for lifelong learning. The program targets foundational literacy and quality outcomes across student grades. Designed for classes 1 to 10, the program aims to equip every child with the skills they need to progress. Key features include engaging students with learning materials that focus on experiential learning to make education more interactive and effective.

This four-week program will involve teachers from all schools in the state, aiming to achieve equitable and quality education. The initiative will serve as a short-term intervention in improving the overall learning environment.

Director of the Directorate of School Education and Literacy, Swapnil Tembe, explained that the program was conceptualized using the Vidya Pravesh module developed by NCERT, which helps students transition smoothly between grades to ensure school readiness. "For the first month, all teachers from Class 1 to 10 will participate in this program to help students become class-ready and ease their transition from one level to another," Tembe stated.

He also announced that the Directorate will conduct a webinar to train teachers on the program.
