Police in Assam have rounded up a large number of alleged thieves following a crackdown.

Silchar, Assam, February 12 (HBTV): Police in Assam have rounded up a large number of alleged thieves following a crackdown. The crackdown was conducted throughout Tuesday leading into Wednesday to curb increasing incidents of theft and burglary in and around Silchar city.   

The operation targeted various areas including Rangirkhari, Rangpur, Malugram, Ghungoor, and National Highway point, resulting in the arrest of 21 habitual offenders. Three special teams were formed to lead the operation. The teams comprised three inspectors along with other personnel. After receiving a thorough briefing on the operation, the teams successfully conducted the special drive, resulting in the arrest of 21 individuals from multiple locations.   

The police seized from their possession three LED TVs, seven gold bracelets, seven smartphones, three key pad phones, three heavy duty water pumps, copper wire and pipes, an E-rickshaw, among others informed Cachar’s superintendent of Police Numal Mahatta.
