Protestors are demanding an inquiry into what they alleged is the extra judicial killing of three youths by the Assam police in Cachar of Assam on July 16.

Imphal, Manipur, July 25 (HBTV): Massive rallies were held on Wednesday in Churachandpur and Pherzawl districts of Manipur demanding an independent judicial inquiry into what they alleged the extra judicial killing or fake encounter by the Assam police on three youths from the Hmar community in Cachar of Assam on July 16.

In Churachandpur, the rally was organised by the Kuki Women Organisation for Human Right and Hmar Women Association.

The rally began from the Mualvaiphei playground where the protestors gathered at the Wall of Remembrance. Later, they submitted a memorandum to Union Home Minister Amit Shah through the deputy commissioner of Churachandpur district.

The memorandum requested the Home minister to instate a Special Investigation Team monitored by him against the action of the Assam Police.

A video of the three persons, not resisting arrest, and a picture of them being killed had reportedly gone viral on social media.
