Bangladeshi youth arrested with arms

A Bangladeshi youth was arrested on Tuesday night from his rented room located at Milan Chakra, Adarsha Palli area in Tripura. A pistol and three rounds of bullets besides cash was seized from him.

Agartala, Tripura, January 22 (HBTV): A Bangladeshi youth was arrested on Tuesday night from his rented room located at Milan Chakra, Adarsha Palli area in Tripura. A pistol and three rounds of bullets were seized from his possession apart from a significant amount of cash, subdivision police officer DP Roy said.

According to police, the accused person hails from Khagrachari of Bangladesh.  

‘Based on a tip-off, the authorities conducted a raid at Milan Chakra, Adarsha Pally area. From the house where the raid was conducted, one Samaj Priya Chakma was arrested. During the search operation, police seized a pistol, three live bullets, Bangladeshi currency worth INR 25,000 and Indian currency worth INR 2, 21,000.   

According to preliminary investigations, he had been staying here in a rented house and was pretending to be an Indian to the landlord, Roy said.

On being asked about the possible reason for his entry into the India, the official said, ‘Investigation is underway. We have registered a specific case for violation of Indian Passport Act and Arms Act. He will be produced before the court tomorrow with a prayer of police remand.’
