Imphal (Manipur) [India], November 25 (HBTV): Assam Rifles organized a series of Mega Medical Camps to assist communities impacted by conflict, displacement, and limited healthcare facilities. Over three days, these camps reached approximately 6,750 individuals across several districts, providing much-needed medical care, hope, and support, according to an official press release.

In collaboration with 19 specialist doctors from Maharashtra and Karnataka under the aegis of the Indian Medical Association (IMA), Assam Rifles initiated the camps on November 18, 2024.

At Lilong, the camp—supported by the Lilong United Club Association—featured 18 IMA specialists and served over 1,200 residents, including women, children, and elderly individuals. It provided free consultations, medicines, and critical diagnoses, addressing a wide range of medical concerns from chronic conditions to urgent illnesses.

On the following day, the humanitarian mission extended to Sora in the Kakching District, where more than 2,400 individuals, including displaced persons, received medical attention. Maternal and pediatric healthcare were key focuses alongside general medicine.

The initiative continued in Chakpikarong, Chandel District, on November 25, 2024, where 1,050 individuals benefited from services provided by 10 IMA specialists and the Assam Rifles Multi-Hospital team. The camp offered treatments in pediatrics, dermatology, ENT, ophthalmology, and general medicine, distributing free medicines as well. Local leaders, such as T.S. Berek, Chief of the Anal Naga Chief Association, expressed gratitude for the efforts, emphasizing the trust and goodwill fostered by such initiatives.

Simultaneously, in Tengnoupal, the Mega Medical Camp 2024-25 provided medical counseling and treatment to 1,095 villagers, including 385 men, 441 women, and 269 children. Led by the Assam Rifles Medical Officer and supported by a team of 10 civil specialists, the camp delivered comprehensive healthcare services tailored to the community’s needs.

These camps stand as a testament to the Assam Rifles' commitment to promoting health and well-being while strengthening bonds within affected communities.
