Guwahati (Assam) [India], March 19 (HBTV): The Defence Ministry has sanctioned INR 100 crore for the construction of a new Sainik School in Karbi Anglong district of Assam. The new school will be constructed at Langvoku in Karbi Anglong.
The Defence Ministry released the amount as grants-in-aid for the financial year 2024-25. This allocation is part of a total sanctioned amount of INR 335.87 crore for the development of Sainik Schools.
Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu expressed gratitude to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh for approving INR 100 crore for the school's construction.
'Heartfelt gratitude to @DefenceMinIndia for sanctioning INR 100 Cr for the construction of a Sainik School at Langvoku, Karbi Anglong. This will greatly enhance quality education and discipline among our students. Special thanks to Hon'ble RM @rajnathsingh ji for the support! This amount is released out of a total allocation of INR 335.87 crore,' Pegu said on X.
Deputy Speaker of Assam Legislative Assembly Numal Momin also expressed his gratitude for the sanctioned funds.

In another development, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma attended the centenary celebration of Ramakrishna Mission Sevashrama and the inauguration of the newly built universal temple of Sri Ramakrishna Paramhamsadeva at Silchar in Cachar district.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister described Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa as one of India's greatest spiritual luminaries who significantly contributed to society.
'Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa not only enriched our Sanatana civilization but also provided timeless wisdom to the world at large,' Sarma said.
He extended greetings to Swami Ganadhishananda, the Secretary of Ramakrishna Mission Sevashram, and others associated with the institution.
CM Sarma announced that the State Government will provide INR 5 crore to the Hospital of the Ramakrishna Mission Sevashram (Ma Sarada Charitable Dispensary) and another INR 4 crore to repay the outstanding debt for constructing the Universal Temple of Sri Ramakrishna Paramhanshadeva at Silchar.
