Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma meets Japan's state minister of justice in Tokyo

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma met Japan's State Minister of Justice Komura Masahiro to discuss the Assam government's plans for establishing an industrial park.

Tokyo (Japan), January 23 (HBTV): Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma met Japan's State Minister of Justice Komura Masahiro on Thursday to discuss the Assam government's plans for establishing an industrial park dedicated to Japanese companies. The meeting also highlighted shared values and cultural ties between India and Japan.

Taking to X, CM Sarma stated, 'It was a privilege to meet H.E. Mr. Komura Masahiro, Japan's State Minister of Justice. We had an insightful conversation on the shared values and ethos that tie India and Japan, and particularly how ideals of Buddha form a spiritual bridge between our two societies.'

He further shared, 'During my discussion, I underlined Government of Assam's intention to establish an industrial park dedicated to Japanese companies. We also spoke at length on how talented youths from Assam can help bridge the demand for a skilled workforce in Japan, through ongoing programs between our countries.'

Earlier on Wednesday, after completing his visit to Seoul for the first leg of the Advantage Assam 2.0 Roadshow, CM Sarma arrived in Tokyo to continue the initiative.

The Chief Minister began his day by paying tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Edogawa, where he received a warm welcome from the Assamese diaspora. He interacted with the community and enjoyed homemade Assamese delicacies, according to a press release from the Assam Chief Minister's Office.

CM Sarma then addressed the Advantage Assam Roadshow, attended by 160 business leaders, to present Assam’s investment opportunities. Sharing details on X, he said, 'Had a very engaging Day 1 in Japan where I had meetings with over 160 industry leaders and outlined our vision of Simplicity, Transparency, Efficiency and Effective Policy to attract investments into Assam.'

The Chief Minister also emphasized Indo-Japan ties and Japan’s continued support for ongoing projects in Assam, spanning urban development, infrastructure, healthcare, and manpower sectors.

Earlier this week, CM Sarma concluded the first phase of his international roadshow in South Korea, where he held productive meetings with stakeholders in renewable energy, semiconductors, and small and medium enterprises. (ANI)
