Silchar, Assam, March 19 (HBTV): It’s not every day that a head of state would rebuke his police chief for ‘excessive security’ for the VVIP. But that’s what chief minister of Assam Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma did recently. Sarma scolded Cachar’s superintendent of police, Numal Mahatta, while attending the golden jubilee celebration of Desh Bhakt Tarun Ram Phukan Higher Secondary School on Tuesday afternoon.
A video taken by a person appearing to show the chief minister scolding the police official has now gone viral. In the view, Sarma is saying, "Am I a thief or a dacoit that you people have put in so much of security. Wherever I go I see too many security forces. I have come to meet people, not the police."
