Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu emphasized the crucial role of government officers, particularly district officials, in driving the state's development.

Pasighat (Arunachal Pradesh) [India], February 12 (HBTV): Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu emphasized the crucial role of government officers, particularly district officials, in driving the state's development.

‘If they work towards evolving solutions instead of dwelling on problems, accelerated development of the state and society can become a reality,’ he said while addressing a review meeting with officials of East Siang district in Pasighat on Tuesday.

Khandu highlighted that while ministers and MLAs serve as policymakers, government officials are responsible for executing these policies on the ground. ‘The success of any government depends on the honesty, sincerity, and efficiency of its employees,’ he stated.

‘We (politicians) are temporary. You (government employees) are permanent. We may come and go every five years, but you will serve the people for over 30 years. Your role in the state's development and public welfare is significant,’ he added.

The chief minister reiterated his government’s commitment to empowering officials, particularly those in district administrations. He stressed the critical role of Deputy Commissioners in achieving the goal of Viksit Bharat, Viksit Arunachal by 2047, as envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

‘As the chief administrative officers at the district level, Deputy Commissioners are the backbone of governance and development in Arunachal Pradesh. Strengthening districts is crucial for improving last-mile citizen service delivery,’ Khandu said.

He also announced the introduction of Bottom-up Planning, which involves preparing district-level vision and development plans, with Deputy Commissioners playing a key role. Additionally, Guardian Ministers and Mentor Secretaries will conduct review meetings in their respective districts and submit reports to the government.

‘Our objective is to pinpoint the exact problems and needs of each district and identify key areas for prioritization,’ Khandu added.

Referring to the recent conference of Deputy Commissioners in Itanagar, Khandu urged officials to implement schemes and programs based on six thematic pillars—Sundar Arunachal, Samridh Arunachal, Shikshit Arunachal, Swasth Arunachal, Surakshit Arunachal, and Swachch Arunachal.

Speaking about Pasighat, the state's oldest town with a history of over 100 years, Khandu assured that the government is committed to its development, aiming to make it one of the top cities in Arunachal Pradesh.

He called for unity and cooperation beyond political and ideological differences.

‘When it comes to the development of our state and the welfare of our people, we stand united as Team Arunachal,’ he concluded.
