New Delhi [India], March 1 (HBTV): Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired a high-level review meeting in the national capital on Saturday to assess the security situation in Manipur. He directed that from March 8, free movement of the public should be ensured on all routes in the state.

The meeting was attended by the Governor of Manipur, Union Home Secretary, Director of the Intelligence Bureau, Deputy Chief of Army Staff, Army Commander of the Eastern Command, and the Directors General of the Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and Assam Rifles. Also present were the Security Advisor to Manipur and senior officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), the Indian Army, and the Manipur administration.

Shah emphasized that the Government of India, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, remains fully committed to restoring lasting peace in Manipur and is providing all necessary assistance toward this goal.

The Home Minister instructed authorities to ensure unrestricted movement on all roads in Manipur from March 8, 2025, and ordered strict action against any attempts to create obstructions. He also directed that fencing work at designated entry points along Manipur’s international border be completed at the earliest.

Additionally, Shah stressed the need to dismantle the entire network involved in the drug trade as part of efforts to make Manipur drug-free.

On February 13, President’s Rule was imposed in Manipur following a report from the state governor. The proclamation, published in the Gazette of India by the Union Home Ministry, transferred the powers of the Manipur Legislative Assembly to Parliament, effectively suspending the state government’s authority.

In November last year, Amit Shah had convened a high-level review meeting in the national capital to assess the security situation in Manipur.
