Guwahati [Assam], Febuary 20 (HBTV):  Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma held a press conference at the Dispur Lok Sewa Bhawan in Guwahati on Thursday, ahead of the Advantage Assam 2.0 summit. He revealed that delegations from 35 head of missions and 12 spouses have confirmed their participation, with the number expected to rise to 50. The summit will be led by External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, with support from the Prime Minister's Office and the Ministry of External Affairs.

Sarma emphasized that the event is unprecedented in scale, noting the involvement of multiple international delegations, including representatives from Bangladesh, Bulgaria, Italy, the United States, Australia, and several other nations. He highlighted the significant interest in Assam's development, especially in sectors like sustainable aviation fuel, medical colleges, power projects, and semiconductor technology.

The summit is poised to attract substantial investments, with over 1,500 specific investment requests already received. Sarma stated that the cabinet would closely scrutinize all proposals before any Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) are signed, ensuring only real, feasible investments are pursued.

Additionally, the government is set to receive Rs 50,000 crore from the Indian government for infrastructure projects, with the potential for even more. Bhutan will also be sending a strong delegation, further solidifying Assam’s growing international presence.

Sarma concluded that Assam’s identity is increasingly tied to the semiconductor industry, with global interest in developing an advanced semiconductor ecosystem in the state. This positions Assam as a key player in India's economic future.
